Your text never leaves your Mac
There is no server that reads what you write. Every suggestion and every check is made on your Mac, and nothing is uploaded.
Works with Wi-Fi off
After the one-time model download, suggestions and checks run offline. Only license renewal and update checks go online.
Every request the app makes is listed in the privacy policy.
Mistakes get underlined as you write
Spelling, grammar and punctuation, in the app you are already in. Hover an underline or press Tab to see the fix.
Select text, get the right action
Select a few words and get other ways to say them. Click one to swap it in.
Select one word to see alternatives that fit the sentence around it.
Check a sentence or a whole paragraph and fix it in one go.
A small bar appears next to the selection, or press Tab. Shortcuts can be changed in Settings.

No. Suggestions, the writing check and rephrase run on your Mac, with Apple Intelligence when it is turned on or with the model built into SmartyTab (Gemma 4, downloaded once). Your text, the apps you use and what is on your screen are never sent to us or anyone else. The only network requests are the license check (your license key, a hashed device ID and the app version), the one-time model download and update checks. Details are in the privacy policy.
Yes. Once the model is downloaded, suggestions, checks and rewrites work without internet. The app goes online now and then to renew its license and check for updates.
Any app with a text field, through macOS Accessibility: Mail, Messages, Slack, Notes, Telegram, browsers and more. It does not work in password fields, which macOS hides from every app, and an app that does not expose its text fields to Accessibility may only partly work or not at all.
A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with 8 GB of memory (16 GB recommended for the highest quality level) and 2 to 5 GB of free disk space for the model. On macOS 26, Apple Intelligence is used when it is turned on. Windows and Intel Mac versions are planned; ask to be told when they arrive.

After that SmartyTab keeps working on the Free plan: autocomplete for up to 100 words a day and the spelling check, for as long as you like. Nothing is charged automatically. Pro adds unlimited autocomplete, the grammar and style check, rephrase, other words and actions on selected text.
